Carbone Lorraine pads are ruining my alloys !

I've got Carbone Lorraine RC5 pads fitted to my classic with 4 pot calipers.

The amount of brake dust off these pads is ridiculous,after only a weeks driving it was stuck to my front alloys so bad that I had to use Meguiars wheel brightener to remove it and seal them with Poorboys wheel sealant.

Cleaned my wheels today with Menzerna 7.5 wheel and tyre gel thinking they would clean up easily and i've got large amounts of dust stuck to the wheels that won't come off no matter how hard I try

Is anyone else using this pads and suffering with the same problem ?

What other pads are good with the 4 pot calipers that don't give off so much dust ? I don't do trackdays,just fast road use really.

Searched for ages looking for an online stockist for these pads after reading loads of good stuff, but gave up.

Glad I didn't succeed now.

Best pads are Ferodo DS2500 or Pagid Blue or Black (quite expensive).

I'm going to try Black Diamond Fast Track (bit cheaper).

had this on a old calibra turbo with a willwood set up the brake dust practically welded itself to the alloy soon changed to ds2500 pads

Yeh,that's what the Carbone Lorraines are like. My alloys were like virtually brand new until I fitted these pads,I just want to get rid of them asap

Wasnt Bob'5 saying they were the best pads he had ever used?

I've done abit of searching around for info on these pads and it seems they do have a reputation for caking the wheels and even the sides of the car in heavy brake dust which rusts onto the wheels/paintwork

Wish i'd known that before buying them

I believe they are pretty similar to Carbotech's, which i used in mine a while ago.

Awesome pad, and will be getting another set once the DS2500's that came with my AP's need replacing.

I get them from Tyrant on the MLR, who runs Carbotech Europe Ltd i believe

Industrial strength truck wash couldn't get all the dust off. Although that was kinda my fault for leaving it so long without a wash.

I want to try and avoid using pads that create that much dust. Really not sure what to go for

I use DS2500's, my wheels are sealed with Poorboys wheel sealant and ive never had the dust stick yet. Wheels are washed at least once a week

I put a set of carbone lorraine in my road car and did a trackday in it. Big mistake! Loads of metal dust down the side of the car which then turned to rust instantly when it rained.

No matter what I tried I could not get it off and in the end I took the car to the valeters and they had to acid wash the car twice to remove the rust and then polish to get the paint to shine again.

Wheels where so bad I had them refurbed in the end.

All in they cost me about £500 to rectify the damage caused by the dust.

They did work very well but the ferrodo 2500 I replaced them wit are 95% as good with out any of the greif.

One final thing the carbones squeal something horrible at slow speeds.

That's what other people have said about the Carbone Lorraines !

I'm not happy as I bought them from Ian Godney @ Godspeed who told me they don't give off much dust

I've heard the Ferodo DS2500 are quite good,what sort of price did you get them for ?

I bought some Carbone Lorraine pads also and am also finding that the dust given off by these pads are just sticking to the alloys. I've had to clean several times with Wonder Wheels and there are bits in the corners that just do not want to come off.

Performance wise, seems to be pretty good, but ruined by the amount of dust. It wouldn't be so bad if the dust came off relatively easily, but it just gets completely caked on.

I'm not a heavy brake user either, doing lots of motorway miles and am trying to clean the damned wheels a few times a week just to prevent the dust sticking.

Also as someone else mentioned, at low speed, when almost coming to a stop, they do squeak.

All in all a bit of a disappointment.

i got these in mine must admit the stopping power is great but yes the dust they give off must be twice that of other pads i have used.then there is the squeelin nose they make which got on my tits aswell.
